Making Plans for Halloween Weekend

Halloween is almost here! With your costumes picked out and ready to go, the only thing left to decide is what exactly to do. There are so many different activities that take place on Halloween night and the nights surrounding it, so make sure you check with your city’s website and local churches to find the best activities for your family.

For moms with older kids, Halloween might not be as fun as it used to be. The kids want to go be with their friends and not have Mom and Dad tag along. But, let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter if our kids are grown with kids of their own, we will always want to spend every holiday possible with them. A good compromise with your older kids is to do a family night the weekend before and let them go with their friends on Halloween. Here are some ideas and activities to celebrate this beloved fall holiday.

Pumpkin Patch

It’s our family tradition to go to the pumpkin patch every fall. When it gets dark, we go on a hay ride and go through the corn maze. You might also enjoy the petting zoo, the different food vendors, and picking out a family pumpkin.

Regardless of how you spend your time at the pumpkin patch, it’s a really fun way to spend time together, making memories. Rember to take lots of pictures.

Fall Festival

Most churches host an event the weekend before Halloween, if not on Halloween. Admission is usually free for these events and vendors are usually set up so you can purchase food and drinks. Your kids can play games for candy, visit the petting zoo, if there is one, or bounce in the bounce house.

Of course, all churches are different and have different activities, but it’s a nice family event for those who don’t want to go trick-or-treating or who want to get in some extra quality time with the family.

Halloween Parties

If you’re a Halloween fanatic, your home is probably all decked out with spiders and webs and all things spooky. Host, or attend, a halloween party this weekend. It’s a fun way to bring all of your friends and family together without imposing on Halloween itself.

Whatever you find to do this Halloween, have fun, dress up, and make memories that will last a lifetime!
